GENTRY – Gentry senior quarterback Chris Bell threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score Friday as the Pioneers upended Huntsville 49-13 in the 4A-1 Conference football opener for both teams.

The disaster on our southern border has been raging since the beginning of the Biden administration. Migrants have been rushing to cross into the United States ever since it became clear President Biden was not committed to border security and immigration enforcement.

Despite yearlong coverage of the issue in this newspaper, and on our website, and on our Twitter feed, and on our Facebook page, there are still people in Madison County who are upset about “just finding out” about the issue of a proposed jail here. I understand if you don’t want to subscribe to or read The Recordbased on political differences, but you’re missing out on the best source of news information when it comes to Huntsville and Madison County.

Huntsville will be part of an upcoming regional study to “help cities develop a comprehensive safety action plan to prevent death and serious injuries on their streets,” according to Economic Development Director Brandi Holt.

LITTLE ROCK – On Friday, Sept. 30, the Madison County Health Unit of the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will offer flu vaccinations at no charge at the Madison County Health Unit, 709 N. College St., Huntsville, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Three additional street lights will be installed in a subdivision being developed off of Missouri Street, according to the Huntsville Planning Commission.

Feb. 9, 2021: • High School Principal Roxanne Enix was informed  of sexual-abuse allegations.  Enix informed Director of Athletics Tom McCollough, who calls then Superintendent Audra Kimball about the allegations. 

Jeffrey Shawn Robertson, 59, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, in Joliet, Ill. 

Molly Joe Tyson, 85, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at home. 

Huntsville High School will celebrate homecoming with a parade, pep rally and football game against Elkins on Friday.

Madison County sheriff-elect Ronnie Boyd on Thursday held an informational meeting about the need for a jail in Madison County. Thursday’s gathering was held in front of several dozen people at the Madison County Senior Health and Wellness Center. A similar presentation was held the following night at the St. Paul Community Center.

A new walk-in state-of-the-art medical facility could open its doors and possibly begin offering medical services, including urgent care, in spring of 2023.

Audra Kimball, former Huntsville School District superintendent and current personnel and program compliance director, and former junior high school basketball coach Kaleb Houston have been summoned to appear for charges of failure to notify by mandated reporters in the first degree, according to Fourth Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Matt Durrett.
