Kingston’s extra trip to Quitman to complete the Class 1A State Track and Field Meet wasn’t in the school’s budget. First-year coach Patrick Drennan said community support helped offset the unplanned expenses of having to make two trips to the Class 1A-2A State Track and Field Meet — on May 6 at Gurdon and again on May 12 at Quitman after weather forced a postponement.

Kingston recognized 2025 Madison County Sports Hall of Fame recipients Marsha Shaver and Kyle Bohannan.

Kingston began the boys basketball season 3-12, but as junior Ethan Clark said, once the Yellowjackets started to figure out how to play together, they turned the season around.

The Kingston junior and senior boys played the School of Advanced Studies on  Feb. 4 in Rogers. The final  score of the junior boys game was Kingston 39, School of Advanced Studies 9, Caleb Edgmon led the team with 14 points, followed by Matthew Huber 9, Lane Brandenburg 8, Dilon Randall 4, Mason Bellinger 2, and Trey Walker 2.

Kingston hosted Mt. Judea and Deer on Jan. 28. The final score of the junior boys game was Kingston 49, Deer 24. Caleb Edgmon led the team with 19 points, followed by Matthew Huber 12, Evan Carlton …

All four Kingston basketball teams played at Omaha on Jan. 24.

Kingston hosted Jasper on Jan. 14. The final score of the junior girls game was Kingston 13, Jasper 61. Keirra Williams led the team with 5 points, followed by Mesa Villines 4, and Neveah Humphreys 4.

Kingston hosted Lead Hill on Jan. 7. The final score of the junior girls game was Kingston 12, Lead Hill 57. Maycee Gates led the team with 6 points,  followed by Mesa Villines, 4, and Legacy Welsh 2.

Kingston 2004 graduate Kyle Bohannan, who will be inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame on Jan. 17, remembers a milestone early in his basketball career.

Congratulations to the Kingston senior girls for taking first place in the Rumble in the Rock Tournament and the senior boys for taking third place.
