The 54th Annual St. Paul Pioneer Days is approaching in just more than a month and plans are building, according to Tiffany Smith, planning committee organizer. Pioneer Days will be Sept. 8-9 in St. Paul, near the school’s complex and community center. 

An ALS fundraiser set for Saturday, Aug. 12, will celebrate the “faith, family and friends” of Lori Trinkle, a Huntsville resident who last year was diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease.

Three people died in a three-vehicle accident Saturday night on Highway 412 in Madison County.

The Huntsville Water and Sewer Commission on Monday approved the use of  Aerobic Granular Sludge [AGS] technology for a new wastewater treatment plant, a project estimated to cost $32.5 million. Engineers and Huntsville Water Manager Sean Davis said the total cost ultimately will be less than the estimate.

Don Smith, a longtime banker and volunteer firefighter in Huntsville, died Saturday in Hindsville. He is remembered as a steady, reliable person, a valuable member of the community and as a loving family man.
