The Huntsville Eagles host the Gentry Pioneers tonight at Eagle Stadium in their first conference game of the season.

Nick Coulter, head coach of the Huntsville High School cross country team, said his runners “showed out” at the Elkins Invitational on Sept. 9 after a “rough” first meet on Sept. 2 at the Shiloh Saints Invitational in Springdale. However, the team is looking forward to participating in the Berryville Bobcat Back 40 Saturday.

The Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets golf team will play in the 2023 State Golf Tournament at Mountain Ranch Golf Course in West Side Greer’s Ferry on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

A love for physicality and drive keep Huntsville High School senior Bentley Pearrow busy. As middle guard for the Huntsville Eagles varsity football team, he enjoys tackling his opponents. Off of the field, you can find him welding for Skills USA, shooting trap for Huntsville High, or chopping wood for his firewood business. 

The Huntsville Eagles have a chance to right the ship, and Friday’s opponent could provide that opportunity.

The Fifth Annual Memorial Rodeo to benefit Cowboy for Tyler, in honor of the late Tyler Smith of Huntsville, is set for Saturday at Sky High Arena. To enhance the rodeo’s mission of encouraging youth in rodeo, a free ticket will be provided to each student in the Huntsville School District, JoAnne Whisenhunt, Smith’s mother, said.

The Huntsville Eagles golf team on Sept. 7 completed a perfect 5-0 season at Oakridge Golf Course, head coach Justin Harris said. 

Huntsville High School junior Averie Dunn placed second in the Elkins Invitational Cross Country match Saturday, finishing the 5K with a time of 23:27. The event was held at the Elkins cross country course.

Consistency, discipline, and passion is the trifecta that allows Huntsville High School Senior Hallie Howerton to thrive. As a libero for the Lady Eagles volleyball team and Ozark Juniors club volleyball team, she specializes in defense. Commitment to school is shown through her position as President of the National Honors Society (NHS) and a love for community has driven her to become President of the Student Council as well as President of the Class Council. 

The Elkins Elks blasted the Clarksville Panthers Friday night 51-10, notching another non-conference victory. The Elks, now 3-0, will take a bye this week before taking on Gravette next week in the team’s first conference game of the season.

The Huntsville Eagles never found momentum in Friday night’s non-conference away game against Pea Ridge, losing to the Blackhawks by a score of 46-8.

The Huntsville Eagles will travel to Pea Ridge tonight to face off against the Blackhawks.
