Huntsville lost to Prairie Grove 3-1 on Oct. 8, but rebounded to sweep Green Forest  on Thursday in the last week of 4A-1 Conference volleyball play.

The Kingston boys golf team finished in a tie for seventh place with Viola on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the 1A State golf tournament in Blytheville.

Huntsville encountered the toughest defense it has faced thus far this season, sustaining a 55-7 loss in 4A-1 Conference football at Gravette on Friday.

Huntsville pushed Gravette to the limit, before dropping a 5-set volleyball match, 25-22, 13-25, 14-25, 25-21, 15-8, on Oct. 1.

A metal sculpture was created with the late Wes Fowler’s favorite quote, “Keeping the dream alive,” a theme borrowed from Gwen and Chub Elwell whom he and his partners purchased Oakridge Golf Course from.

Huntsville’s cross country teams competed with good results over the weekend.

Kingston senior Lauren Fancher made par four times on the front nine and shot a 91 to win the Class 1A State girls golf championship on Oct. 2.

Huntsville played better offensively than many predicted, but couldn’t find the end zone and lost 45-0 to Prairie Grove on Friday.

Huntsville’s volleyball team has been making noise, moving up in the 4A-1 Conference standings by posting a 5-match winning streak.

A tough day on the green didn’t bode well for Huntsville’s golf teams, but Payden Thomas and two girls, Katie Bertrand and Kallie Bolinger, qualified for state. 

Huntsville hosted its annual cross country meet known as the Eagle Invitational on Monday. The event attracted scores of runners from area teams for both the senior high 5K and junior high 2-mile runs with a good showing by the Eagles.

A 61-yard Berryville punt flipped the field and set up a blocked Huntsville punt that changed the complexion of Friday’s game with the Eagles losing 21-6.

Huntsville finished third in Thursday’s boys team standings while competing at “The Highlands” in Bella Vista with a score of 269 behind Gravette (245) and Shiloh Christian (246).

A mammoth defensive effort by Huntsville caused seven turnovers and preserved an 8-6 win at West Fork Friday on Brett Henderson’s interception on the last play of the game.

Huntsville has generated some momentum in varsity volleyball, throwing off the stigma of a 1-5 start.

Huntsville’s football team has gone through a wringer of adversity this season, yet the Eagles’ tenacity Friday empowered them to emerge victoriously, 8-6, at West Fork.
