Bertha B. Easterling, 97, of Springdale; passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab. 

Loyd “Bubby” James Yarbrough, 69 of Buhl, Id. passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark.

Brenda Lee Burson, 57, of Fayetteville; passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Northwest Medical Center, Springdale. 

Austin Wayne Bell of Hindsville will be graduating from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine and College of Public Health on Saturday, May 18, in Little Rock. Before attending UAMS, Austin graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, earning Summa Cum Laude honors.

On Saturday May 4, 2024, the North Arkansas College Adult Education Program held its GED graduation ceremony in the Pioneer Pavilion at North Arkansas College.

Kolton Reynolds, a 2022 graduate of Huntsville High School and an outfielder for the Crowder  (Mo.) College Roughrider, has been named Region 16 Player of the Year.

Jake Roddy of Huntsville will be riding bulls during Saturday’s Spurrin’ Sky High rodeo event, which is presented by his brother Logan’s 3 Ring Rodeo Company. It will be Jake’s second time riding in Logan’s Spurs and Cleats Tour, following his participation in the April 6 show in Bentonville. Jake said that show was packed with fans, and he hopes and expects Huntsville fans to turn out Saturday at Sky High Arena.

Professional bull riding will be on display Saturday at Sky High Arena when 3 Ring Rodeo Company presents Spurrin’ Sky High beginning at 7 p.m.

The Washington/Madison County Drug Treatment Court seeks to break the revolving cycle of incarceration and addiction for defendants who run an abnormally high risk of going to prison, said Fourth Judicial Circuit Judge Cristi R. Beaumont, who presides over the court.

The Huntsville School District does not qualify for a specific kind of funding that would have made lunches free for the entire district next school year, the Huntsville School Board learned Monday night.

Huntsville Mayor Travis Dotson had a message for the employees of Ducommun during a luncheon on May 8 celebrating the company’s 175 years of continuous operation: “If you’re not familiar with Ducommun, you’re not familiar with Huntsville, Arkansas.”
