Bo and Makayla Hatfield with Lefty Ray Hatfield, and his sisters Heidi and Tully. The 2022 Cruiz’n the Square charity car and truck show took place on Oct. 1 in and around Polk Square. Between 90 and 95 vehicles took part, according to organizer Jason Yates. Proceeds from this year’s car show will benefit the family of Lefty Ray Hatfield, son of Bo and and Makayla Hatfield. Lefty has two sisters, Heidi and Tully. Lefty was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. The most common complication with CF is related the lungs, but it affects the entire body. Lefty does chest physiotherapy twice a day at home to break up the mucus in his lungs. He takes special vitamins and his CF team is located at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Lefty goes monthly his first year and quarterly after that. The Huntsville Kiwanis Club held its annual pancake breakfast the morning of the car show. A live auction took place at noon. Barbecue was available, and Today’s Bank offered grilled burgers and hot dogs. All proceeds went to the car show. Yates said the annual show routinely raises more than $20,000 for a local family in need.
