The St. Paul cross country program is 28 runners strong with the senior high and junior high teams preparing for the 2026 season. The Saints have six boys and eight girls out for the varsity.

St. Paul High School track and field athletes won the second place trophy at the 1A-4 District Track and Field Meet on April 28 with Lucas Maloney winning the individual high-point award.

The St. Paul baseball squad suffered blowouts to County Line and Mulberry, then produced 10 runs in its third game, a 26-10 loss to Western Yell County as the school revived its program.

As St. Paul Track and Field Coach/Principal Bruce Dunlap looks over the Saints’ boy’s roster, he noted the athletes are playing two spring sports.

Three members of the St. Paul varsity boys basketball team were named All-Conference and junior Walker Westbrook was named All-State for Class 1A.

For the first time in more than 10 years, baseball is making a return as a varsity sport at St. Paul High School, according to Head Coach Kipp Upton.

The St. Paul boys basketball team battled to reach the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament on Feb. 25, but were eliminated 73-38 by Lead Hill to end the season 11-13 overall.

The Saint Paul Saints traveled to the 79th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College High School Tournament in Miami, Okla. on Jan. 22. The Saints were only able to complete the first round of the tournament due to the winter storm predicted. The St. Paul cheerleaders also attended the event to cheer on the Saints. The Saints played against the Cardinals from Miller, Mo. 

The St. Paul varsity boys improved their record to 4-4 after winning their 1A-4 conference opener, 75-49, at Oark on Dec. 9, then dropped a pair of league games before defeating Mulberry, 55-47, on Dec. 19.

Turnovers proved costly for the St. Paul varsity boys (3-4, 0-0 1A-4) and girls (0-6, 0-1 1A-4) teams with both losing to Johnson County Westside on Dec. 5.

On Oct. 28, St. Paul celebrated its own version of “All Saints Day” on the hardwood with all of the Saints basketball teams playing against Haas Hall Fayetteville. 

St. Paul graduated three starters and several seniors from its varsity girls basketball squad as new coach Kipp Upton takes over for Principal Bruce Dunlap, who is now coaching the boys team.

The one-two punch of Aidan Jerkins, who exploded for 45 points, and Walker Westbrook, who chipped in 26, powered the St. Paul boys basketball team to a season-opening win.

St. Paul changed head basketball coaches with girls coach Bruce Dunlap taking over for Mike Foster in boys basketball. Dunlap, also St. Paul Principal, said he inherited a squad with two seniors and a strong work ethic. 

Planning ahead for the upcoming basketball season starting Saturday with the Blue and Gold game means not exhausting athletes as St. Paul gears up for the conference and state cross country meets.

St. Paul was one runner short of fielding a girls team, but got some good times while competing on Sept. 30 at the Huntsville Invitational Cross Country meet.

The season script flipped for the St. Paul Cross Country team while competing in the Clarksville Cross Country Kickoff meet on Sept. 9.

St. Paul will field varsity and junior high boys cross country teams, but the girls’ numbers aren’t quite as strong this season, according to Coach Bruce Dunlap, who is also St. Paul Principal. 

Isela Cousins’ track and field career at St. Paul culminated with the Arkansas Activities Association Heptathlon at Ramay Junior High in Fayetteville on May 21-22.Cousins accumulated 1819 points to place 67th overall.
