Huntsville  finished out the regular season in boys basketball last week. The Eagles began their week with a disappointing 56-39 loss at home on Feb. 10 to the visiting Gravette Lions. 

Two Huntsville bowlers won All-State honors during the Class 4A State match on Feb. 12 at Fast Lanes in Rogers.

Huntsville High School senior Keiley Poor and junior Keggun Carson set a new standard for Huntsville wrestlers program as fourth place medalists at the state wrestling tournament, earning All-State honors last weekend.

The Huntsville High School bowling team competed in the 4A West Conference match on Friday with the girls placing second and qualifying for state while five boys qualified for state individually.

Huntsville played three girls basketball games last week, including a makeup game, but managed only one win while absorbing a pair of losses.

Huntsville picked up one win, sandwiched around two losses in boys basketball 4A-1 Conference games against Shiloh Christian, Gentry and Berryville last week.

Huntsville High School senior Keiley Poor earned the distinction of becoming the school’s first wrestler to qualify for state by placing third at the 4A North Regionals, at Greenwood on Feb. 4.

The Huntsville High School wrestling team is showing promise with Keiley Poor earning the distinction of the first Eagles’ wrestler to qualify for state, and four boys qualifying for the state wrestling meet.

Escaping from the clutches of the bitter winter storm, Huntsville traveled to Green Forest for some important conference games on Jan. 31.

On Jan. 31, Huntsville competed against Green Forest in 4A-1 Conference basketball with senior Payden Thomas scorching the Tigers for 30 points.

All four teams traveled to Lead Hill on Friday night.

The Huntsville boys and girls basketball teams came into this week hoping to find their shooting touch and generate some momentum before the upcoming district tournament, Feb. 16-21.

The Huntsville wrestling team got in some action with the boys taking on Rogers and the girls facing Berryville on Jan. 22. The Mounties defeated the Eagles, 48-36, in the dual, while the Lady Eagles and Lady Bobcats finished in a 12-12 tie.

The junior girls played Alpena in the Alpena Junior High Tournament on Jan. 12. 

A versatile player, Paula Hughes played every position but point-guard for Huntsville Eagles Coach Charles Berry on the girls basketball team at Huntsville in the 1980s.

The Saint Paul Saints traveled to the 79th annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College High School Tournament in Miami, Okla. on Jan. 22. The Saints were only able to complete the first round of the tournament due to the winter storm predicted. The St. Paul cheerleaders also attended the event to cheer on the Saints. The Saints played against the Cardinals from Miller, Mo. 

Huntsville jumped out to an early 21-12 lead in the first period, with Maggie Ritchie scoring eight points and Kalli Bolinger with six. 

All four Kingston teams played at Jasper on Jan. 13. The final score of the junior girls game was, Jasper 59, Kingston 25. Keirra Williams led the team with 11 points, followed by Mesa Villines 10, Maycee Gates 2, and Ellie Villines 2.

A pair of standout Kingston girls basketball stars, Tiffany Villines Rodden (Class of 2000), and Brittany Lyman Leonard (Class of 2001), will be inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.
