Huntsville High School senior Katlyn Turner loves being on the softball field. As co-captain of the Eagles Softball team she is dedicated to the game, in which she plays first and second base, as well as the outfield. When not on the field, she works full time at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab as a CNA.
Huntsville’s Lady Eagles softball team was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday, April 5 as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-2 to the Gentry Pioneers. The result was a reminder to Huntsville of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair’s previous head-to-head back in April of 2023.
Gracie Dinh, a Huntsville resident and senior at Arkansas Virtual Academy, has signed on to compete on the University of Mississippi rifle team.

The Huntsville Eagles and the Silo Rebels passed the lead back-and-forth on Tuesday, March 19 in Tampa Bay, but eventually Silo prevailed 10-8. The game was tied at eight in the top of the eighth when Shawn Weaver grounded out, scoring one run.
Mike Smith doesn’t have to go very far or look very hard to remind himself of one of the best parts of his job as groundskeeper at Oakridge Country Club and Golf Course. His residence on the golf course overlooks one of the club’s nine holes. Beyond that is a sweeping view of northern Madison County. “It helps, on a bad day,” Smith laughed.
