Jimmy Dean Shepherd, 75, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville. 

He was born Monday, May 26, 1947, in Fort Smith, to Otis Shepherd and Gladys Brannon Obenshain.

Jimmy married Mildred Leona Maze on Sunday, May 29, 1966, in Clifty, and together they were parents to two children. 

He was a truck driver for Fuels and Supply. A sports fan, Jimmy enjoyed watching the Razorbacks, but he was especially passionate about the St. Louis Cardinals. Hunting, fishing, playing cards, and watching “Gunsmoke” were some of his favorite activities. His great personality and sense of humor made him well loved by all; and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Shepherd and Ralph and Gladys Obenshain. 

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Shepherd, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Tammy Shepherd of Wesley; his daughter and son-in-law, Pamala and David Lillard of Prairie Grove; three grandchildren, Tara and Dalton Fortune of Prairie Grove, Erin and Cody Wolfe of Springdale, and Austin Kragel of Prairie Grove, and eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Payton, Miley, Kodi, Noah, Raylin, Wyatt and Oakley. Jimmy is also survived by his four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Zelah and Gene McCollough of Bella Vista, Faye and Bill Robeson of Clifty, Nadine and Don Hopper of Jane, Mo., Donna Maze of Pineville, Mo.; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jim Obenshain of Forum, Ray “Shep” and Sharon Shepherd of Hindsville, and Ralph “Buck” and Judy Obenshain of Clifty.

The family received friends Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at Clifty Chapel Free Will Baptist, with Dwayne Lane officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Mike Hopper, Donnie Maze, Rodney Obenshain, Donald Shepherd, James Obenshain and Rob Miller. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Robeson, Josh Obenshain, Lynn Hopper and Chris Obenshain. 

Interment will immediately follow services at Clifty Cemetery. 

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
