Dennis “Jack” James Burkes, 59, of Hindsville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville. 

He was born Monday, Sept. 3, 1962, in Springdale, to Ardith “Shorty” Jasper and Florence Helen Douglas Burkes.

Jack was the father of four children. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and picking morel mushrooms. In addition to attending auctions, Jack enjoyed making people laugh with his great sense of humor. He was always willing to help anyone in need.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Burkes; and one grandson,Waylen Burkes. 

He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Shane Burkes of Clifty, Shawn and Danae Rowe of Shell Knob, Mo., and Sammy Burkes (and Jamie Pointer) of Clifty; one daughter; Shalena Wier (and Mike Yates) of Huntsville; 13 grandchildren, Sky, River, Summer, Ethan, Alissa, Fanessa, Gabbie, Natalie, Alivia, Brantley, Gabriel, Daxton, and Lucas; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gary and Kathy Burkes, of Springdale, Roy and Linda Burkes of Huntsville, Larry Burkes (and Sherla Johnson) of Best, Michael Burkes of Hindsville, and Richard Burkes (and Pam Dozier) of Hindsville; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary “Susie” McCollum of Lawrence, Kan., Linda and Larry Byers of Kingston, Shirley Jo Upson (and Lynn Williams) of Wesley, and Cheryl Burkes of Goshen.

The family will receive friends at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. 

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m., with Danny Williams officiating.

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
