Madison County Judge Larry Garrett said he is pleased with the rate of progress so far on construction of the new county detention facility and sheriff’s office.

About 70 citizens turned out for a meeting at the Carroll Electric Community Room on Monday night to hear the results of a recent survey conducted by the City of Huntsville. The city will use the results, as well as citizen input, to create a new strategic plan.

With 2,415 total votes cast, unofficial results from the 2024 Preferential Primary were announced by Madison County Clerk Austin Boatright Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. Polls closed at 7:30 p.m.

The Madison County Quorum Court authorized County Judge Larry Garrett last week to apply for a grant from the Arkansas rural Community Grant Program to help fund the purchase of five washer extractors for use by the county’s 13 fire departments.

In its regular ad hoc session last week, the Huntsville Planning Commission approved the site plans for the new Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center.

The Madison County Water Facilities Board met on Feb. 13 in the water office.

A local murder suspect has had a new trial date set, according to Fourth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Matt Durrett.
