The Elkins Elks continued their postseason winning streak Friday night, defeating the Monticello Billies 56-6 in a playoff game.

All four teams played Ozark Mountain School District at Western Grove on Nov. 14. The junior girls kicked the night off with the final score Kingston 24, OMSD 33.

Kingston High School senior Lila Hartness plays basketball with devotion, love and respect for the game. Playing point guard and post for the Kingston Yellowjackets Girls Basketball team, she dribbles and passes like no other on the court. To help gain more skills for her main sport, you can find her running for cross-country and track. In the classroom, she participates in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). 

Last Tuesday night, Huntsville traveled to Ozark bringing home a 38 to 53 loss.

Members of the varsity Eagles basketball teams saluted the special veterans in their lives Friday night at the Activity Center.

Last Tuesday night, the Lady Eagles continued play in the Clarksville Tip-Off Classic losing to Morrilton 28-62.

The team-voted award recipients were: Most Valuable Player: Hallie Howerton; Most Improved: Nora Thomas.

The Elkins Elks remain undefeated this season with a perfect 11-0 record after toppling Clinton in a home playoff game Friday, 63-27.

Driven and dynamic, Huntsville High School senior Carlie Tuttle Bailey is one busy student. As one of two cheer captains on the Huntsville High School varsity cheer team, you can find her cheering for the Huntsville Eagles football and basketball teams. She also excels in competitive dance and pageantry, the latter being used as a springboard to advocate for the American Heart Association. In school, you can find her on the student council.  

Thursday, both of the St. Paul senior high teams played Westside. Final score for the girls was Saints 38 to Westside’s 54. 

The junior and senior boys played Ozark Catholic Academy on Friday. The final score of the junior boys game was Kingston 29, OCA 47. 

A need for speed has St. Paul High School Senior Jacob Ogden racing in more sports than one. On the court, he keeps his pace as wing for the St. Paul Saints basketball team. On the ground, you can find him chasing his last best score in cross-country.

Congratulations to the Kingston cross country teams. The girls placed first in the 1A State Cross Country Tournament and the Boys placed second. Congratulations to Aslyn Cooper, who took second place overall, Callie Edgmon who took fifth place overall and Josh Cooper who took second place overall. 

Cedric Comer signed his letter of intent to bowl with the Ottawa Braves, at Ottawa University, on Nov. 1.

The Huntsville Lady Eagles traveled to Clarksville to begin their 2023-2024 season coming home with a 55-45 loss.

The Elkins Elks improved their already-perfect regular season record to 10-0 with a 54-0 victory over the Lincoln Wolves Friday night in Lincoln. The Elks also boosted their 4A-1 conference record to an unblemished 7-0. The Elks rank first in the conference and are the No. 1 playoff seed. Elkins has home field advantage on Nov. 11 when it plays the Clinton Yellowjackets at 7 p.m. Clinton is 8-3 overall and 5-3 in 4A Region 4 and beat Dover Friday night, 45-12.

Huntsville finished its 2023 football campaign with a 0-10 record Friday night, losing to the Ozark Hillbillies, 56-30.

Kingston High School’s cross country girls’ team won the 2023 1A State Cross Country Championship on Friday, giving the Lady Yellow Jackets their third consecutive state title.

The head coaches of the boys’ and girls’ Eagles basketball teams got a preview of how their players will look in the regular season at Saturday’s Maroon and White games, held at the AT & Georgia Mae Smith Activity Center.
