Winfred Ransom Eaton, 81, of Wesley, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at Willard Walker Hospice, Fayetteville. 

He was born Monday, March 17, 1941, in Weathers, to Ira Randolph and Lillie Rose Fields Eaton.

Win married Shirley Jean Smith on Thursday, Feb. 21, 1963, in Tulsa, Okla., and together they were parents to two children. 

He was a farmer and proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Win was a man of the mountains. They were a part of him, and he was a part of them. He loved to be on the land and in the woods, whether working, hunting, or fishing. Watching Razorback football and reading western novels were also some of his favorite pastimes. Family was important to him. He loved being with his grandkids, especially when he was able to take them fishing.

Winfred was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Lillie Eaton; and six siblings, Rayburn Eaton, Arvis Eaton, Gary Eaton, Roy Dale Eaton, Nell Sloan and Pat Plaster. 

He is survived by his wife, Jean Eaton, of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark Eaton and Ray and Lora Eaton, all of Wesley; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Joyce and Joel Bunch of Fayetteville, Sharon Carter of Huntsville, Norm and Ed Marshall of Wesley, Linda and Dale Baxter of Sargent, Texas, Jan Torbett of Fayetteville, and Sandra and Darle Bowman of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Jared Eaton, Rachel Smith, Tilden Eaton, Lilly Eaton and Talon Eaton; and four and three/quarters great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. Rex Eaton and Lynville Eaton officiated. 

Pallbearers were Tilden Eaton, Jared Eaton, Talon Eaton, Ransom Eaton, David Eaton and Wayne Eaton. 

Interment followed services at Alabam Cemetery. 

Services were entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
