Shirley May Turentine, 72, of Springdale, Ark., died Friday, Dec. 16th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo. 

She was born Aug. 13, 1950, at the Elizabeth Hospital in Prairie Grove, Ark. 

She was the daughter of the late Oval Calico and Dixie Lou (Thompson) Elzey. 

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Cecil Calico; and a stepgrandson, Lamar Tyrone Burris. 

Shirley is survived by her husband of 37 years, Kenneth Wayne Turentine; daughter, Shannon (Mark) Hubbard of Springdale, Ark.; sons James Richardson of Springdale, Ark., and Bill (Liz) Richardson of Centerton, Ark.; stepdaughters, Lisa Turentine, Debra (Jeff) Klemme, and Karen (Jeremy) Wesley; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat grandchildren; and sister, Faye Glass of Tontitown, Ark.

Shirley grew up in Huntsville, Ark., but spent the majority of her adult life in Springdale. She was employed by Harp’s Food Stores for 28 years before retiring. A loving mother and homemaker, Shirley was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. Besides her family, Shirley’s other great love was her little Boston Terriers Puddles, Peaches, Tasha and Autumn, who were all a constant source of companionship and joy for her.
