Mildred Marie Easterling Hill, 84, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away Jan. 6, 2023, in Fayetteville, at Willard Walker Hospice Home.

Mildred was born on Feb. 19, 1938, to George Easterling and Lois Steele Easterling in Wharton Creek, Madison County, Ark.

Mildred was always an avid reader from a young age, and she valued education greatly. After graduating from Huntsville High School, Mildred attended Fayetteville Business College, and later earned her accounting degree from the University of Arkansas. Much of her coursework at the university was done while also working and raising her three sons. She worked at various institutions and businesses over the years, including the Zoology Department at the University of Arkansas, Arkansas Western Gas, Campbell Soup, and Washington County Assessor’s Office.

She enjoyed traveling across the United States with her husband, Vernon, and their dog, Lucky. She also was adventurous in her travels, spending a month and a half on a solo trip to Australia and New Zealand. Hawaii was also a favorite destination for her.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vernon Hill, in 1994. 

She is survived by her three sons, Michael Hill of Fayetteville, Patrick (Melissa) Hill of Alma, and Steven Hill of Rincon, Ga. She also loved all her grandchildren, Dallas, Whittney, RyleeAnn, Olivia, Jameson, Sara and Kevin; as well as all her seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Zion Christian Union Church in Fayetteville.
