On Thursday, March 18, 2021, Juanita “Yvonne” Thomas of Springdale, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at age 73.
Yvonne was born Jan. 2, 1948, to Afton and Katie McChristian Couch of Japton, Ark. Born the second of four daughters, she is survived by her three sisters, Geraldine Samuels, Margaret Samuels and Joyce Dunham.
In 1982, Yvonne married Dwight E. Thomas. Together they blended families with four children. Yvonne retired from Novar/Honeywell in 2013 after serving upwards of 20 years in management for Warner Cable Company.
Yvonne attended Ray of Hope Community Church of Springdale and sang regularly during Praise Worship. She loved music and was a talented singer. Yvonne and husband, Dwight, performed in a band with family and friends over the years for fundraisers and community services. Yvonne was an avid fisher. She loved family get-togethers, flea marketing, and road trips. Yvonne was known for her warm personality, strength and independence, and love and compassion for others.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight E. Thomas; four children, Michelle Ahrents and husband, Blaine, Kim Mozden and husband, Robert, Anita Thomas and Clint Thomas and wife, Kelly; seven grandchildren, Brady Ahrents, Sheyenne McDonald, Bryant Savage, Dustin and Derek Shepherd, and Avery and Joe Thomas; several more family and countless friends.
Graveside funeral services were held at Drakes Creek Cemetery on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 10 a.m. with Glen Thomas officiating.
Pallbearers were Blaine and Brady Ahrents, Robert Mozden, Bryant Savage, Dustin Shepherd and Joe Thomas.
Services were entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
