James Kenneth Smith, 81, of Hindsville, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Monday, Dec. 18, 1939, in Purdy, to Coy and Opal Phillips Smith.
Jim married Edith Mae Smith on Saturday, June 27, 1959, in Orofino, Idaho, and together they were parents to two daughters. He was a logger for most of his life. Jim was a hard worker, wonderful husband, proud and protective father, and a great brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, and “Uncle Jim” to so many. He was a protector and caretaker of his family, and family was always the most important part of his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by the love of his life for 62 years, Edith Smith of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and Bob Parker and Karin and Steve Womack; his brother and sister-in-law, Dorsie and Nevelta Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Doyle Horine and Katie (Sharon) and Mike Dennis; his special nephew, Marvin Smith and wife, Rhonda, and family; his grandchildren, Jim Parker, Jessica and Rhett Lance, Coy and Annie Parker, and Ruben and Connie Litterell; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Lance, Brock Lance, Precious Parker, Mae Dean Parker, baby Parker, Tanner Dickson and Brooklyn Dickson.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the Parker Family Cemetery, Wharton Creek, with Jim Hepler officiating.
The procession will depart from Brashears Funeral Home at 9 a.m. for those who would like to follow to the service.
Pallbearers will be his boys, Bob Parker, Steve Womack, Rhett Lance, Jim Parker, Coy Parker, Ruben Litterell, Gavin Lance and Brock Lance.
Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
