Hattie Elizabeth “Beth” Gamble, 88, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at home surrounded by family. 

She was born Tuesday, March 20, 1934, in Huntsville, to Joseph “Bob” Marion and Mildred Helen McCarver Gage.

Beth was a graduate of Huntsville High School where she was a member of the 1950 State Champion Basketball Team. She married Leslie “Les” Lee Gamble Jr., on Saturday, Nov. 17, 1951, in Huntsville, and together they were parents to three daughters. For many years, she worked for her cousin, Gene and Jean Shinn at the Sears catalog store in Huntsville. Beth loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to being an avid reader and an excellent cook, Beth loved her family dearly. She and Les enjoyed playing golf and traveling with their golf friends. The first weekend of November has also been a tradition for Beth and the ladies of her family to take the annual “girls’ trip” to Branson. It was a yearly event that she had enjoyed for 30 years this past November.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Les Gamble, to whom she was married for 66 years; her parents, Bob and Mildred Gage. 

She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicky and Charlie Hudgins of Clifty, Cathy and Kim Tipton and Pat Crider, all of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Kelly and Jeff Powell, Kaye and Jeremy Johnson, Jack and Brook Hudgins, Chad and Jerri Faye Tipton, Cari and Doug Davidson, and Hannah and Derec Carson; 16 great-grandchildren, Lakin and AC Ramirez, Clay and Maggie Wilson, AJ Powell, Anna-Claire Hudgins, Ethan James, Jackson Hudgins, Evan James, Luke Hudgins, Bo Hudgins, Aliyea Johnson, Delanie Tipton, Hunter Davidson, Dugger Tipton, Mason Davidson, Eleanor Carson and Walker Burch Carson; one great-great-grandchild, Porter Ramirez; and another Ramirez baby due to arrive in March. Beth is also survived by Randy and Debbie Shinn, Sonny Baker, and Doris Severs. 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home. Brandon Brasel officiated. 

Interment followed at Huntsville Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. 

Services were entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
