Fred “Harold” Jones, 88, died Jan. 21, 2023, at his Springdale home surrounded by family.

He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Huntsville to Fred Troy and Nola Phillips Jones.

Harold was married to Mary Lou Casteel in Huntsville on Dec. 3, 1957. They parented three sons. Harold was a beef cattle and broiler farm owner. For many years, he owned and operated Jones Conoco in Huntsville. He was well-known to everyone in town, and especially liked by students who would stop by after school for sodas and snacks. He was known to have the coldest sodas in town and was always ready to flip quarters “double or nothing” for them. Harold and Mary moved to Springdale in 2005 after retiring and selling their farm.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and three siblings.

He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Kim Jones of Springdale, Rick and Vickie Jones of Springdale, and Scott and Rebecca Jones of Berryville. He was the proud Papa of nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Brashears Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. In honor of Harold’s love of Razorback sports, attendees are encouraged to wear game-day gear.

A private family graveside burial will be held at Huntsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Circle of Life Hospice at or by mail at 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory.
