Floyd “John” (aka Johnny) Wheeler, 82, of Wesley, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at home.  

He was born Thursday, May 2, 1940, at Thorney, Ark., to Lee Wheeler and Cleo McFee Wheeler.

He had a career and family in Fullerton, Calif., before retiring and moving back to Arkansas in about 1993. He married Wreatha Jo Peterka in St. Paul on Oct. 23, 2016.  He was a deacon at Harmony Baptist Church in Huntsville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; three sisters; and two wives: Judy Turner Wheeler and Ellen Copeland Wheeler.

He is survived by his wife, Wreatha Jo Peterka Wheeler; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Johnny Wheeler and Jerry and Karen Wheeler; six stepsons and four stepdaughters-in-law, Dave and Yolanda Copeland, Dennis and Teresa Copeland, Steve Copeland, Steven and Shannon Williams, Clayton and Lisa Williams, and Henry Moore; one stepdaughter, Randa Rayor; one granddaughter, Jessica Wheeler; two grandsons, Sam and Becky Wheeler, and John Wheeler and Kelsey (engaged); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren, whom he loved so much. 

The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home with Lonnie Siler officiating.  

Pallbearers will be Jim Owens, Leon Jordan, Larry Vanlandingham, Shelby Sisemore, Dale Harp and Buddy Johnson. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Gardner, Ron Taylor, Gary Eubanks, Marion Johnson, Art Calico, Larry Lawson, Phil Mygar, and his extended family and friends.  

Interment will immediately follow services at Brashears Cemetery, St. Paul.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brashears Cemetery Fund at Arvest Bank.  

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
