Eldean Clesta Whorton, 85, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at home. 

She was born Sunday, Dec. 20, 1936, in Anaheim, Calif., to Forest Earl and Lucile Genevieve Amstutz Theuret.

Eldean married James Kenneth Whorton on Sunday, April 5, 1959, in Huntsville, and together they were parents to three children. 

She worked at Butterball for many years and volunteered at Paws and Claws Thrift Cottage after retiring. Volunteering in her community was important to Eldean, who was a member of the Aurora Ladybugs Extension Homemakers Club. In addition to being a hard worker, she was always on time for everything. Visits with others and supporting her grandchildren’s sports activities were some of her favorite things.

Eldean was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. 

She is survived by her two sons, Keith Whorton and Kenneth Whorton, both of Huntsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steve Hudson of Huntsville; honorary son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Frederick; seven grandchildren, Jimmy and Magnolia Thomas, Jeremy and Lauren Thomas, Brian and Candice Whorton, Bobby Whorton, Brittany and Logan Hattabaugh, Shelly and Cord Riley, and Aaron and Laken Whorton; two honorary grandchildren, Chad and Dana Frederick, and Kayla Frederick; 13 great-grandchildren; four honorary great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Thomas of Orange, Calif.; one niece, Linda and John Tessitori of Orange, Calif.; one cousin, Marlene Hansard; and her best friend, Carol Horton.

The family will receive friends 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Brashears Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Brashears Funeral Home with Ted Walker officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Brian Whorton, Bobby Whorton, Logan Hattabaugh, Cord Riley and Aaron Whorton. 

Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies at Paws and Claws Thrift Cottage, Patty Ford, Jerry Frederick and Chad Frederick. 

Interment will immediately follow services at Aurora Cemetery. 

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
