Carmen Rene Samuels, 90, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, in Huntsville, Ark. 

She was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Prairie Du Chien, Wis., to Archie Harwood and Margaret Drake Harwood.

Carmen is survived by four daughters: Carol Soto of Indiana, Beth Pariseau of Huntsville, Gale Visser of Huntsville, and Naomi Brewer of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; one daughter, Mary Bakken; one grandson; three sisters, and her parents.

Carmen was a pastor’s wife and had the heart of a teacher. She taught preschool, early elementary grades, and many Sunday school classes. She loved music and directed a church youth choir.

Her daughters are thankful to all those at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab who helped care for her the past few years.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at Drakes Creek Regular Baptist Church. There will be no visitation. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab activities department.  

Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
