Betty Faye Coger, 81, of Huntsville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville.
Betty was born on Wednesday, June 21, 1939, in Wharton Creek, Ark., to Robert Burney and Lillian Olga Steele Fancher.
Betty married James Kay Coger on Saturday, March 17, 1956, in Huntsville, Ark., and together they were parents to three children.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sharon Rektor; and one brother, Robert Fancher.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kay Coger of the home; one son, Jim Coger; two daughters and son-in-law, Michelle and John Marsh and Kathy Coger, all of Huntsville; seven grandchildren (Tanner, Haley, Mattie, Kayla, Daniel, Sarah, and Joseph); and eight great- grandchildren (Jaxon, Gabby, Taylor, Cannon, Boone, Olivia Grace, George, and Ellery). She is also survived by one brother, Joseph Fancher and his wife, Kathleen; one sister, Mary Coger; and one sister-in-law, Pat Fancher. There are also 22 nieces and nephews.
Betty was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Huntsville. At one time she owned and operated her own art studio, The Brush & Palette, and enjoyed teaching painting lessons. She was a member of the Marble Extension Homemakers, and Friendship Club. She loved gardening, cooking and was always curious about learning new things. Betty never knew a stranger, and if you knew her, you loved her.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Brashears Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks were required.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Brashears Funeral Home with Larry Mitchell officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Ray, Luke Dotson, Matthew Gillham, John Coger, David Cline and Robert Trinkle.
Interment will immediately follow services at Huntsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Betty’s great-granddaughter, Gabby Gillham, may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock AR 72202.
Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
