Alta Jo Mounce, 82, of Elkins, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, in Fayetteville. 

She was born Sunday, Oct. 24, 1937, in Japton, to Carl Franklin and Iva Elizabeth Haskins Williams.

Alta Jo married George Lee Mounce on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1954, in St. Paul, and together they were parents to three children. 

She was a homemaker and a member of the Combs Church of Christ. 

Alta Jo enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening; she was a wonderful cook, and dearly loved her family.

Alta Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee; three brothers, SR Williams, Cutis Williams and Ray Williams; and one sister, Margie Combs. 

She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debi and Darrell Brandt, Sherri Burton, and Shanna and Mason Lewis, all of Elkins; one brother, Harold Williams of Elkins; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services were held on Oct. 2, 2020, at Ledbetter Cemetery with Danny Williams officiating. 

Pallbearers were Matt Hipple, Mason Lewis, Evan Schulze, Hunter Schulze, Ashlee Brandt and Bailee Brandt.

Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Brandt, Cody Hayes, Leslie Hill, Doug Williams, Lucky Dean, Martha Morgan, Harold Williams and Chuck Burton. 

Services were entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
