County lucky to have a man like Formanek

Dear editor:

Thank you for that great article by Ellen Kreth about Jonathan Formanek. We are so glad to see attention directed toward an economic and entrepreneurial role model in our community.

We met Jonathan Formanek over 20 years ago after he moved into Madison County. From day one he wanted to be part of this county and help build a friendly cohesive environment. One of the first thing he organized was a citizen group to submit Huntsville’s application as an ACE (Arkansas Community of Excellence) city in the state. Unfortunately, there was not enough local support to fulfill the needed requirements to fit the guidelines. But since then, Jonathan has always been available and supportive in having community groups utilize his home for meetings, fundraisers, or get-togethers. He has always been approachable for any local aid he may be able to provide.

With the school board’s rejection of his Wal Mart proposal, we lost a great opportunity to build a community center, create local jobs, cut down on new environmental damage, and create some community activities for our citizens. We are sorry there is so much resistance to this sort of positive change in Madison County.
